Staying on track during the Holidays

Need a couple of tips to keep your workouts on track this holiday season? Keep reading to find out more! 

  1. Schedule It Setting a time and place ahead will encourage you to stick to the plan. Writing this down in a planner or on a calendar helps to keep you accountable as well. Especially during the holidays, things can get busy. So, knowing that you have a time mapped out will keep you on track.
  2. Earlier in the Day Waking up early and working out is most likely the best situation. Many times, you may schedule your workout for 6 PM. But, when you get to 6 PM, you are sometimes tired, need to make dinner, or had plans pop-up. Then the workout does not get done and you are left feeling a bit unsatisfied. Making time to exercise the first thing you do in the morning starts the day out on the right foot and ensures that you get it done!
  3. Plan a short workout During the holidays, most people do not have a whole hour or two to spend on a workout. Planning out a short but high intensity workout will be best as you maximize effort in a short amount of time. You can plan your own work out, or just Google it to find many different options.
  4. Check it off There is something satisfying about checking things off on your to-do list. Have a list, planner, or calendar that you write “Workout” on. When you are able to cross it off, it is a satisfying feeling that will leave you looking forward to next time. Also, not being able to cross it off will encourage you to fit it in or try harder next time to get it done.
  5. Accountability This may be the most important tip on the list. Having a partner to workout with is the best motivation to go, and best way to keep you from backing out of it. They could be a friend, co-worker, or significant other. It just needs to be someone that you can trust to keep you accountable and that you can hold accountable as well.
